We were delighted to host our first workshop at the studio recently – ‘An introduction to nontoxic Japanese water-based woodblock printing’. This exciting workshop was conducted by Ralph Kiggell, a master woodblock artist and book illustrator who has spent the last 30 years in Asia practicing contemporary and traditional water-based woodblock printing.

This workshop was limited to only 6 people so that they could get as much one on one tuition from Ralph as possible.

All participants did 1 black and white print and a coloured print. Ralph bought all his special tools and inks from Japan.

We had a very international group – Deb was visiting from Brazil, Luka from Mongolia and Debra from the Big Apple as well as local residents.

A very successful workshop that proved extremely popular with everyone. So much so, we’re planning another one for this year.
