Spending time in Rome again this past month, was a glorious and inspirational trip down 'memory lane'! I had the blessed fortune again to re-connect with my old boss (and dear friend) Ida Farkas who ran the world renowned textile design studio Faro Disegni.
Ida was the Creative Director of Faro Disegni, one of the world’s best textile design studios. I worked here back in 1999 and it was an incredible experience. The studio is sadly no longer but we’ve kept in touch all this time.
We spent 2 wonderful weeks together going through some of her family archives of vintage textiles, couture fashion, old books and textile artwork. We only managed to go through around 5% of the collection, which gives you an idea of the vast body of material. It has rekindled my love of textiles and the privilege of being able to make a career out of it.
With our talented friend, master textile designer Samuela Breda, we are collaborating on a new range of products and designs available for licensing in 2024. Samuela has also created some of the best selling designs for Zara. This is definitely going to be a space to watch!
If you are planning to visit Rome, you must add these restaurants to your list - Il Matriciano, La Tavernaccia da Bruno for authentic Roman cuisine, and don't forget the award winning gelateria Guiffrè which was around the corner from where we were staying.
